Description

Chassis No. ZFFEW58A160147999 Engine No. 105998The F1 paddle-shifted transmission Ferrari first introduced on the 355 F1 in 1997 grew more refined with the 360 Modena, and by the time the F430 launched for 2004, the electrohydraulic gearbox had matured into a rapid and usable system. Customers responded in kind; the F1 option came to dominate F430 order books to such a degree that the model would be the last mid-engine Ferrari offered with the open-gated six-speed manual alongside it.A small fraction of buyers held out. Those who still preferred to row their own gears specified the manual transmission, and while Ferrari has never published a definitive U.S.-market figure for six-speed manual F430 production, contemporary enthusiast research suggests these cars number only in the low hundreds out of roughly 5,500 F430s delivered to the United States. Examples fitted with the gated six-speed-particularly in the more rigid berlinetta chassis-have since become the driver's choice among collectors, recognized as the final chapter in a line of gated mid-engine Ferraris reaching back to the 246 Dino.Finished in timeless Rosso Corsa over Beige leather, chassis 147999 was completed in 2006 as a U.S.-market example and sold new through Ferrari Maserati of Atlanta in Roswell, Georgia. The original service and warranty booklet notes that the car's first owner, Jack O. Bovender Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, took delivery on 15 July 2006. Beyond the desirable six-speed manual gearbox, the car was desirably selected with heated Daytona-style seats, Scuderia fender shields, Rosso brake calipers, a leather-upholstered rear wall and headliner, and the Hi-Fi sound system with Bluetooth capability and a subwoofer. It is further equipped with a Sport Exhaust by Tubi Style, which is believed to have been fitted from the factory or selling dealer from new.First registered in Tennessee on 28 July 2006, the Ferrari received routine maintenance from the selling dealer in the ensuing years before passing to its second owner in Georgia by the end of 2010, then showing around 10,569 miles. A third caretaker took possession in Michigan in August 2013, where the car remained for nearly six years and received regular attention from Cauley Ferrari of West Bloomfield, supported by numerous service stamps from 2013 to 2018. Acquired in summer 2020 by the current custodian, an avid enthusiast and vintage airplane pilot with a taste for high-quality automobiles, the F430 has remained in Southern California since. As noted in the accompanying CARFAX Report, the car has been diligently maintained by its prior owners, with service records documenting regular attention from marque specialists. In late 2018, Cauley Ferrari of West Bloomfield, Michigan performed an oil and filter change, cooling and hydraulic clutch flushes, replaced the serpentine belt, and fitted a new right front tie rod end. The following year, Autosport by GMP of Novato, California rebuilt the water pump, replaced both engine mounts, addressed loose control arms, performed a four-wheel alignment, installed updated exhaust brackets, and remedied the common “sticky buttons” issue at a combined cost of nearly $12,900.Most recently, Ferrari South Bay completed an annual service in October 2024 at 19,144 miles, including engine oil, gearbox fluid, and brake fluid changes, new filters, radio repair, and completion of the brake-fluid reservoir cap campaign. Today, recent paint meter readings confirm that the car wears its attractive factory Rosso Corsa finish, while PPF protects the front bumper, trunk lid, and fenders.Showing a mere 19,192 miles at the time of cataloging, chassis number 147999 is ready to be enjoyed for its analog gear changes and singing mid-mounted V8-a fine example of the final manual, mid-engined Ferrari has built to date. It is joined by its original owner's manuals in their leather folio and a digital copy of its window sticker.
