1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4

The 365 GTC/4 is powered by a high-revving 4.4-liter V-12 engine, featuring quad overhead camshafts. This engine was slightly detuned compared to its GTB/4 counterpart, resulting in a more tractable and torque performance at lower speeds. The suspension is also softer than the GTB/4, and standard features include power steering, power windows, and air conditioning, enhancing its grand touring capabilities. Many consider the 365 GTC/4 a more usable version of the renowned Ferrari Daytona, offering the best of Italian engineering and luxury as an ideal four-seater grand touring automobile.The Ferrari 365 GTC/4, with styling by Filippo Sapino at Carrozzeria Pininfarina, debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1971. Only 500 units were produced over a brief two-year period, making the GTC/4 2+2 increasingly desirable for collectors seeking a grand touring car for road use or rallies. Mechanically, it shares much with the 365 GTB/4 ''Daytona,'' but it introduced innovations such as power-assisted steering, a spacious trunk, and side-draft carburetors that allowed for a lower hood line. The V-12 engine has a displacement of 365cc per cylinder, with an 81mm x 71mm bore and stroke, totaling 4390cc. Road and Track, in its July 1972 review, described the car as ''In all, a graceful, clean and understated design with subtleties one discovers only by looking it over carefully.''Chassis 15889 was completed in August 1972 and departed Maranello, Italy, in an elegant Verde Medio Nijinsky (2.443.561) exterior over a beige interior with Panno 41 (Scottish green cloth seat inserts, door, and rear panel) leather. It was factory-equipped with instruments in miles, a heated windscreen, radio installation, power windows, and air conditioning. This vehicle was imported to America and sold through Hollywood Sports Cars in Hollywood, CA.On June 13, 1974, Chassis 15889 was sold to Steven Mercury, a finance manager residing in Burbank, CA, who owned the car until September 3, 1981. It was then acquired by Bluth Realty / Investment Inc of Arcadia, CA, under whose ownership the car was regularly driven and enjoyed. On April 20, 2000, Warren Anthony Gold of Phoenix, AZ, purchased the car, with the title showing 85,711 miles. On April 29, 2004, David Jackovick of Berkeley, CA, acquired Chassis 15889 after seeing an advertisement in the San Francisco Chronicle dated April 22, 2004. David and his friend, a mechanic familiar with Ferraris, traveled to Reno, NV, to inspect the car and drove it back to Berkeley after finalizing the purchase.Soon after acquiring the Ferrari, David commissioned a Concours Level restoration, which included a color change from green to red, a full interior in beige leather, and a complete engine rebuild. This extensive restoration is fully documented with accompanying photos. The Ferrari was completed in time for the 2008 Ferrari Club of America Pacific Region Vintage Concours held during Concorso Italiano in Monterey, CA, where it was honored with a “Platinum Award.”This car is accompanied by complete photo documentation of the restoration and its tools.
